Rody Ryan, the founder of Goldcert Management Systems Ltd, has an honours
degree in Mathematical Sciences (1978), a Masters degree in Mathematical
Modelling (1979) and in Electronics (1980).
From 1980 to 1984 he worked as Project Manager and later as General
Manager in the Software Engineering Laboratory of Trinity College
Dublin, developing a research and consultancy service to external
organisations.
He joined CRT International in 1984 to head up the design and
development of a distributed Departure Control System for airlines which
was later marketed by IBM under their Business Partner programme.
In 1993 he joined NSAI, the National Standards Authority of Ireland,
working as a Lead Assessor for ISO 9000 systems in many parts of the
world. As a leading trainer at NSAI he developed several courses on how
to improve the effectiveness of such systems, particularly for companies
in the Information Technology sector and for multi-site organisations.
He left NSAI in September 1999 to establish Goldcert Management Systems Ltd and to promote the development of more effective management systems based on the creative use of the ISO 9000 model. He was retained by his former employers at NSAI to continue the development and presentation of several of their public training courses after he left.
He is currently an active member of a number of Standards bodies:
- Quality Management Standards Committee.
This is the Irish body, facilitated by NSAI, that liaises with TC176 - the ISO Technical Committee responsible for the evolution of the ISO 9000 family of standards.
- Irish Consultative Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility.
This body, also facilitated by NSAI, does the same job in relation to the development of the ISO 26000 standard on Corporate Social Responsibility.
In 2005 he founded the Centre for Creative Development to promote creative development at the individual, organisational and global levels.
Rody also has a long history of involvement in creative ventures - his creative expression includes drama, poetry, painting, dance and music. His inspiration is drawn from a wide range of philosophical influences in the fields of politics, psychology, sociology, spirituality, bio-energy, personal development programmes, meditation and systems theory. He is a trained bio-energy therapist and an Imagework practitioner qualified by the Imagework Institute in London.
He has served as secretary of the Ireland Chapter of the Professional Speakers Association on a number of occasions and maintains a strong involvement in the inspirational field of professional speaking.
